Tim Tate.
Street & Travel Photographer
I’m Tim Tate, a Hertfordshire-based photographer specialising in street photography, urban story telling, and black & white imagery.
I first picked up a camera in the 1980’s, but in recent years photography has become a fun and creative focus. Based near London, I’m particularly drawn to the visual drama and quiet detail found in everyday urban life, whether it’s a fleeting silhouette, a bold composition, or an unexpected moment of stillness.
Much of my work centres on street photography, often shot in monochrome, where contrast, light, and narrative take centre stage. I also enjoy travel photography, recently capturing a sense of place in destinations like Japan, Croatia, Poland, and France. Where ever I am, I’m always searching for stories that connect visually and emotionally.
I’m an active member of the Harpenden Photographic Society, where I also serve on the committee. Engaging with other photographers through exhibitions, critique nights, and creative projects has shaped my approach and helped refine my eye for what makes an image connect.
This site presents a curated selection of my work, from street photography and travel tales to more minimalist and light-driven compositions. I hope these images encourage you to pause, reflect, and see the world a little differently.
